Junior Footwear Designer
Description
Design Support and Development:
- Assist in developing seasonal designs as per approved briefs.
- Support preparation of design packs and technical documentation.
- Create sketches and basic digital illustrations under guidance.
- Work on assigned components or categories under supervision.
- Ensure assigned tasks align with brand positioning and seasonal direction.
Trend and Market Research Support:
- Conduct basic trend research and competitor analysis.
- Assist in preparing mood boards and seasonal inspiration decks.
- Collect and organize market reference materials.
- Support senior designers in research compilation.
Sample Coordination Support:
- Coordinate with sourcing teams for prototype follow-up (under supervision).
- Maintain records of corrections and revisions.
Basic Cost & Feasibility Awareness:
- Understand basic cost parameters provided by seniors.
- Adjust minor styling elements based on guidance.
- Learn impact of materials and trims on cost structure.
Product Finalization Support:
- Incorporate feedback from senior designers and PD Lead.
- Assist in organizing seasonal range presentations.
- Ensure technical files are complete and updated.
- Support preparation of materials for seasonal reviews.
Cross-Functional Coordination:
- Coordinate with: Sourcing, Planning and Marketing and follow up on assigned tasks to provide status updates
Qualification
BS in Leather Accessoring and Footwear Design from PIFD, or related field
Required Skills
Technical and Professional Skills:
- Basic illustration and sketching skills.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop.
- Basic understanding of garment construction.
- Willingness to learn costing and commercial principles.
Behavioural Skills:
